South Sound Luncheon – What’s Brewing in Tacoma?


Join us to hear from a diverse panel of speakers about the exciting up and coming development projects in Tacoma. Our panelists will discuss specific development projects in town and how they contribute to Tacoma’s economic growth and potential. The panel discussion will be moderated by Gloria Fletcher, Business Development Manager for the City of Tacoma Community & Economic Development Department.

Gloria Fletcher, Business Development Manager, City of Tacoma’s Community and Economic Development Department
Gloria has over 25 years of Real Estate Experience, starting as Real Estate Appraiser and most recently managing Real Estate Services for Tacoma Public Utilities.  In her current job she is part of a team that works to establish Tacoma as a destination city by attracting private investment that builds a vibrant economy, strengthens the heart of the city, and enhances neighborhood livability.  Gloria has a Business Degree from Saint Martin’s University and an MBA from University of Washington, Tacoma. She has been a South Sound Resident for most of her life, and spends her free time enjoying the great outdoors of the PNW with her family.

Panelists:
Cathy Reines, Founder and Owner, Kōz
Cathy Reines is an original founder and owner of Kōz as its President & CEO.  Prior to joining Kōz, Cathy was the President & CEO of a Seattle-based micro-housing development, construction and property management company.  Cathy has held partner positions in national, regional and local CPA firms and has held both CEO and CFO positions at SEC reporting community banks.  Cathy has spoken at a number of real estate conferences as well as historically been a regular speaker at various national and local banking conferences.  She has served as a board member for regional and state-wide banking associations, and has successfully built infrastructure and implemented processes that has allowed the successful growth of these companies.  Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Accounting from Central Washington University and is a licensed CPA.

Melony Pederson, University of Washington Tacoma
Melony Pederson has fifteen years of experience designing and managing projects all over the country. She’s had the opportunity to work for architecture, design and sustainability firms throughout her career.  Melony has designed everything from high end custom furniture to cutting edge hotel rooms. She currently works for the University of Washington Tacoma as their Capital Development Manager where she oversees campus master planning and community coordination.   

Outside of the design world she’s an active member in her community serving on City Council for Sumner as well as ULI’s Health Leaders Network. Melony moved to the Puget Sound from Milwaukee, WI where she earned a Bachelor’s in Science in Architecture. She since received a bachelors in Urban Studies from the University of Washington Tacoma and a masters in Real Estate from the University of Washington Seattle. Melony is looking forward to creating a more equitable, healthy and sustainable built environment.

Kyle Prosser, First Western Properties
Kyle Prosser joined First Western Properties in 2008. Prior to joining the company, Kyle earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Western Washington University and spent 2 years working at Colliers International. Mr. Prosser has significant experience in tenant representation in Pierce County. A short list of Mr. Prosser’s satisfied clients include: Chow Foods, The Rhein Haus, The Rush Company and Tourmaline Capital. He has valued his time at First Western Properties because of the people he gets to work with on a daily basis.
